Iha Seikichi is the U.S. Branch Chief for the Okinawa Shorin-ryu Karate-do Association. He presently runs the Original Okinawa Karate Dojo, in Lansing, Michigan and the North American Shido-kan Shorin Ryu Association. He was promoted to Hanshi, 10th Dan by his teacher, Miyahira Katsuya on March 25, 2001. Sensei Iha began his training under Shinpan Gusukuma. I have had the honor participating in a large number of training sessions and seminars conducted by Iha Hanshi. He was the head of the testing panel for my Shodan.
When asked what the hardest part of karate is, he replied simply, "Getting into the car!"
A simple modernization of Lao Tzu's "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."
I encourage all of you to begin your own journey and Get in the car!
