Testing

Next scheduled testing period is planned for February

Shido Kan Kanji

Format

The testing students will line up in front of the testing panel and formally bow in from Seiza position..

At that point, the 'testees' will receive instructions as to what to do.

In general, each candidate for promotion can expect to execute their highest kata by themself, and any other kata directed by Sensei. They will be required to execute a selection of one-on-one drills, kumite and bunkai as directed. Other students present will be directed to perform drills as needed.

At the completion of the testing, the students will bow out from Seiza.

The testing panel will provide feedback to each testee regarding their performance, what areas they should work on and what areas they did particularly well on.

Time Frames

There are no minimum time frames set for testing at the various levels. In general, the length of time between promotions increases as the rank increases. The minimum time requirement to test for Shodan as set by the Beikoku Shido Kan Association is three years, with at least one full year membership in the Association. Note: It is considered improper to ask about testing. It is more appropriate to ask a senior what things you need to improve for your next test.

Fees

Testing fees are to be paid in advance to Sempai or Kanji in cash. (Morning of the test is okay!) The fees are set as follows:

7th Kyu Seichi-Kyu White with Yellow Tip $25
6th Kyu Roko-Kyu Yellow $30

Testing fees and requirements for Shodan and higher ranks are set by the Beikoku Shido-kan Association and can be found under the Association Link at Ihadojo.com.
